Junior Alex Brown and sophomore Lauren Grumet were named to the All-Ivy League First Team, it was announced today by the league office. The Princeton Tigers, who reached the final night of the league race before falling to Penn, placed five players on the respective All-Ivy teams.
Brown led Princeton with a .293 attack percentage as a middle blocker and improved into a top-notch hitter as the Ivy League season progressed. She made very few errors and will be counted on as a senior leader next year to help lead Princeton to its 15th Ivy League title.
Grumet finished third in the league in kills with 4.16 per game and finished second on the team with 3.36 digs per game. She was an explosive outside hitter and, with the graduation in May of Kellie Cramm, will be the focal hitter for Princeton next season. Cramm, a former Ivy League Rookie of the Year, was named to the Second Team after averaging 3.66 kills and 3.31 digs per game. After losing much of her preseason to illness, Cramm picked it up during the Ivy League season and helped Princeton to an 11-3 mark in league play. She will be the lone started lost next season for the Tigers.
Sophomore Jenny Senske and freshman Jenny McReynolds both earned All-Ivy Honorable Mention. Senske finished second in the Ivy League in assists, averaging 12.29 per game, .07 fewer than Penn senior Meghan Schloat. McReynolds, a former Ivy League Rookie of the Week, led the Ivy League with 5.47 digs per game, one full dig more than any other player in the league.
Princeton returns five of six starters next season, as well as its libero, as it goes for its 12th Ivy League title under Glenn Nelson and its 15th overall.
