Philadelphia - Vanessa Scotto made 11 saves, including a fully extended diving stop on Emily Behncke's drive with 15 seconds remaining, as Penn defeated Princeton 3-2 in women's soccer Saturday afternoon.
Katie Cross scored all three goals for the Quakers.
The loss dropped Princeton to 11-2-3 as the regular season ended. The Tigers will await the NCAA tournament draw, which will be announced Monday. Penn ended its regular season at 9-5-3.
"She made several good stops, especially in the second half," said Princeton coach Julie Shackford, who has taken Princeton to each of the last four NCAA tournaments. "Now we have to wait and see. I feel good about what we've done and our chances, but you never know." Princeton took the lead just 1:03 into the game, when Theresa Sherry lofted a shot past Scotto. Cross tied it four minutes later, and Elizabeth Pillion drove a feed from Maija Garnaas past Scotto to make it 2-1 just before halftime.
Cross, the leading scorer in the Ivy League, tied it six minutes after intermission and then scored the game-winner 12 minutes after that. Princeton had several chances but couldn't get the ball past Scotto again.
Princeton outshot the Quakers 15-6. The Tigers finished the regular season 7-0-0 at home and 4-2-3 on the road.
