Princeton Hosts St. Lawrence in Women's Hockey Top 10 Showdown

Princeton, N.J. - The sixth and seventh-ranked team's in the nation will meet twice this weekend at Baker Rink at the Princeton women's hockey team (7-3-0; 2-1-0 ECAC) returns to ECAC play with a pair of games against St. Lawrence (7-4-1; 2-0-0 ECAC). The teams meet Friday evening at 7 p.m., and Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.

It's Gameday... The Princeton women's hockey team continues its three-game homestand with a pair of ECAC games against St. Lawrence at Baker Rink.
Last Time Out... After earning splits in its previous three weekends the Tigers got back on track with two wins over Thanksgiving weekend. On Friday night the Orange and Black traveled to New Haven to meet it's travel-partner Yale. Fueled by senior Gretchen Anderson's hat trick, the Tigers skated away with a 3-2 triumph over the Bulldogs. Two days later on Sunday afternoon, Princeton completed the weekend with a dominating performance over Boston College. Seven different Tigers scored as Princeton skated to an 8-0 shutout victory.
Princeton vs. St. Lawrence... The Saints are 7-4-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the ECAC this season. St. Lawrence has impressive wins this season at Mercyhurst, Minnesota-Duluth and New Hampshire. The Saints recently had a three-game winning streak snapped in its last outing, a 3-2 loss to Connecticut at home.
The Series with the Saints... Princeton is 21-10-1 all-time against St. Lawrence, including a 7-6-1 record at home. Last year, the two teams split in Canton, with Princeton winning 3-1 on Friday night and the Saints winning 5-1 the following afternoon. Last season's Princeton win snapped a six-game losing streak to St. Lawrence. Common Opponents... Princeton and St. Lawrence have faced four common opponents so far this season. Princeton is 3-2-0 in those games while St. Lawrence is 3-2-1 in those games. The opponents are Northeastern, Providence, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
Rankings Game... Princeton is currently ranked seventh in the latest USCHO.com Poll, one spot behind St. Lawrence. That is the highest that Princeton has been ranked this season in wither of the two national polls. The polls can be found on page six of this program.
Looking Ahead... Princeton plays out of conference next weekend as the Tigers visit Findlay for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday in the afternoon. Last season Princeton shutout the Oilers 2-0 at Baker Rink. The Tigers do not return to home ice until Jan. 30 when they meet Harvard.
Top Tiger... Senior Gretchen Anderson continued her torrid scoring pace this season with seven points in two games. On Friday, she tallied a hat trick as Princeton defeated Yale 3-2. Two days later, she posted four points, two goals and two assists, to spur Princeton to an 8-0 shutout. Anderson currently leads the nation in total goals with 15.
In the Net... Senior goaltender Megan Van Beusekom backstopped the Tigers to a pair of wins this past weekend. On Friday night she stopped 21 Yale shots in a 3-2 win and on Sunday she held the Eagles off for the first period in a 8-0 win.
Big Contributors... Four other Tigers posted multiple point weekends. Senior Lisa Rasmussen had one goal and two assists against BC and added an assist at Yale for four points; senior Susan Hobson had one goal and two assists against BC for three points; senior Angela Gooldy had three assists; and junior April Brown tallied two assists against BC.
Weekly Awards... Three Tigers have been honored thus far this season by the ECAC with weekly awards. Senior goaltender Megan Van Beusekom was named Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 3 after allowing one goal in two games at UConn; senior Gretchen Anderson was named ECAC Player of the Week and USCHO.com Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 17, and again received ECAC Player of the Week honors this week. Anderson has also been named to the ECAC Honor Roll three times. Senior Lisa Rasmussen earned an honor roll appearance last week after her performance against Dartmouth and Vermont; and freshman Liz Keady was named the Honor Roll after scoring twice at Connecticut.
