Women's Track Places Third At H-Y-P Meet

Cambridge, Mass. - Junior Hasina Outtz won the 60-meter hurdles, but that was it for Tiger victories in Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday afternoon. Princeton placed third at the H-Y-P meet, finishing with 38 points. Harvard won the meet with 61 team points and Yale placed second with 60.
Princeton had two women finish in second-place slots with Liz Morse (400) and Jennifer Byrd (High Jump) each earning three points in their respective events. Junior Betsy Kennedy finished third in both the shot put (39-4.5) and weight throw (52-6.5) to earn four total points on the day. Freshman Molly Jones also placed third in two events, earning two points in the triple jump (37-1.5) and tying teammate and classmate Alison Brawner in the high jump with a leap of 5-1.
The Tigers also had several 3-4 finishes on the day. Leslie Warren and Morse placed 3-4 in the 200-meter dash, Emily Kroshus and Merideth Lambert did the same in the 300-meter run. Carrie Strickland and Jordan Wagenseller finished third and fourth in the 800-meter run and Christi Niehans edged out Dalia Bach to give Princeton another 3-4 finish in the pole vault.
The Tigers are at the Princeton Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J. next Saturday, Feb. 22 in what will be a final tune-up for the Heptagonal Championships on March 1-2.
