Women's Hoops Drops 75-66 Decision To Columbia

Princeton, N.J. - Columbia shot 51 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point range to sink Princeton at home on Friday night. The Lions used a 10-2 run to break a tight game open in the game's final five minutes, leaving Jadwin with a 75-66 win over the Tigers.
Freshman Rebecca Brown led four Princeton players in double figures with 22 points, but the Lions earned their 10th win of the season behind 22 points from Susan Altman. Both Allison Cahill and Kelly Schaeffer scored 12 points for Princeton while Karen Bolster added 10.
The first half of play as extremely close with Altman burying a three-pointer with nine second left to play, only to be answered by Mary Cate Opila's runner at the buzzer. The Lions led 33-28 at intermission, but Princeton came out and tied the score up early in the second period. The Tigers could not attain a lead in the second half with senior Maureen Lane and Brown in foul trouble. Lane fouled out with one point, five rebounds and a steal while Brown finished the game with four fouls and a team-high six rebound.
With the loss, Princeton falls to 6-12 overall and 1-3 in the Ivy League. The Lions are 10-8 overall and improve to 3-2 in the conference.
Princeton is back home against Cornell tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The game will cap a day of festivities tied with National Girls and Women in Sports day. An interactive fair kicks things off at 5:30 p.m. in Jadwin Gym. Tickets for the fair and game are $3 adult and $1 youth under-14.
