Tigers Tie Connecticut At Penn State Triangular Meet

State College, Pa. - Senior Michael Baird won the 1-mile run and junior Josh Kauke took first in the 800-meter run as Princeton tied Connecticut for second at Penn State's Triangular Meet on Saturday. The Nittany Lions won the meet with 142 points while the Huskies and Tigers ended the meet with 104 teams points.
Baird won mile in a time of 4:04.06 while classmate Jonathan Bell crossed the line in 4:04.21, giving Princeton a 1-2 finish in the event. Baird's time also was a provisional NCAA qualifying time. Kauke won the 800 in a time of 1:50.71 and classmate David Dean placed third in 1:53.00.
Sophomore Dwaine Banton earned second-place points with runner-up finishes in the 60-meter dash (6.98) and Long Jump (22-09.25). Princeton field athletes Paul Lyons (Shot Put) and Josh McCaughey (35-lb. weight throw) also placed second in their respective events. Lyons' put of 55-10.50 was a personal best.
Princeton is back in action next Friday-Saturday, Feb. 14-15 at the Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y.
