Boler Wins Steeplechase, Tigers Compete at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – With Brian Boler winning the steeplechase and several Tigers making impressive performances, the Princeton men's track and field team competed at the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia on April 23rd through 25th.
Boler highlighted the weekend with a dramatic win in the steeplechase, pulling away from Wisconsin's Nick Gilles to clear the finish line in just 8:40.29, winning by a margin of three seconds.
The time is just 2 seconds off his personal best of 8:37.82, which ranks fourth in Princeton history.
Sebastian Martinez also took 14th in the steeple with a time of 8:52.56.
Also in the distance events, Jack Gregorski finished 15th in a field of 60 in the 5000m, clocking in at 13:53.59. Avery Keith also took a top-20 finish in 18th with a time of 13:56.21.
Kobeyeh Riley set a new personal best in the 400m hurdles, running 52.47 for eighth on the all-time Princeton leaderboard.
In the relays, a 4x400 squad of Jonathan York, Xavier Donaldson, Kavon Miller and Joey Gant
ran 3:05.24 to place 5th in the prelims.
In the DMR, a young Tiger squad of James Mcleay, Riley, Tsedeke Jakovics and Weston Brown clocked in at 9:57.23 for 11th place.
In the field events, Joey Goodenow took seventh in the discus championship, throwing 53.10m/174-2. Tyler Konopka also took eighth in the shot put championship, throwing 17.79m/58-4.5.
In the college division, first-year Anthony Liakhnovich took third in the discus with a personal best mark of 52.33m/171-8. He also took seventh in the shot put, throwing 17.00m/55-9.25.
Up next, the Tigers will return home to Weaver Stadium to host the Larry Ellis Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
