Fourth Quarter Scoring Spree Leads Water Polo To 8-7 Comeback Win

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jenny Edwards scored the game-winning goal with 40 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter as Princeton rallied from a 7-3 deficit to an 8-7 win over Brown at the ECAC Championship Tournament held at DiNunzio Pool.
The Tigers entered the final quarter down 7-4 to the Bears before scoring four unanswered goals. The comeback was a team-effort as four different players scored, beginning with Anne-Lise Maag at 4:35, then Kelly Melia-Teevan at 3:25, Adele McCarthy-Beauvais at 2:46, and finally Edwards at :40. Annie Olson assisted the game-winner.
Edwards finished with a team-high three goals. Megan Donahue and Olson also chipped in a goal apiece. Princeton took the first lead of the game at 5:00 in the first but the Bears immediately caught up and earned a 3-2 halftime lead.
With the win, the Tigers finished 2-0 on the first day of the ECAC Championship Tournament. They defeated Iona, 7-2, behind Donahue's two goals in the 11:30 a.m. game. Princeton advances to face Harvard tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. The winner plays in the title game at 3 p.m. against the winner of the Hartwick vs. Brown match (9 a.m.).
