Camden, N.J. - The Princeton women's lightweight crew, ranked No. 1 in the nation, topped No. 2 Radcliffe for the fourth time in as many races Sunday afternoon to claim the EAWRC Sprints championship.
Racing on the Cooper River, where Princeton will try to complete a perfect season in two weeks with a national championship, the Tigers topped rival Radcliffe by less than a boat length to claim the championship. The last time these two boats raced on Cooper River, an April battle for the Knecht Cup, Princeton's margin of victory was less than a second. The Tigers managed more of a lead down the stretch and won by more than 2.5 seconds in the grand final. Radcliffe topped Wisconsin by nearly five seconds for second place.
It was a complete victory for the lightweight women, as the varsity fours cruised to a near-eight second victory over Wisconsin in the varsity fours.
Princeton will return to Cooper River in two weeks for the IRA Championships.
