Men's Track Places Second At Heps, Women Finish Seventh

New Haven, Conn. - Senior Cameron Atkinson was crowned Heptagonal champion in the 200-meter dash and the men's track team placed second overall at the Ivy League's championship meet in New Haven, Conn. on Sunday. The women finished seventh while Cornell won team titles on both the men's and women's side.
Atkinson won the 200 with a time of 21.53, beating out Rahim Wooley of Cornell and Matt Wedge of Penn. Atkinson, who finished third in the 100-meter dash (10.63), was Princeton's lone champion on Day Two; however, several Tigers placed among the top three in their respective events.
Jonathan Bell placed second in the 5,00-meter run with a time of 14:22.58 and Tristan Colangelo placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:57. Josh Kauke (800), Jonathan Kieliszak (1,500) and Adrian Mullings (110 hurdles) all placed third in their races. In the field, the Princeton men registered three fourth-place showings with Mike Weishuhn (high jump) and David Gary (triple jump) placing in the jumps while Tim Releford finished fourth in the javelin throw. The women had Molly Jones (triple jump) and Rachel Rosemeyer (discus throw) each place sixth in the field.
Hasina Outtz led the women with two second place finishes. Outtz placed second in both the 100- and 400-meter hurdles while Cack Ferrell earned points in both the 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs. Ferrell took third in the 3,000 (9:43.36) and was sixth in the 1,500 (4:31.95).
Laura Petrillo was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:45.82) and Jennifer Byrd finished fifth in the heptathlon with 4,522 points.
The men scored 127 team points, three back of Cornell and 35 ahead of third-place Penn. The women scored 52 team points over the two-day meet.
