Women's Volleyball Opens Colgate Invitational With 3-1 Win

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Despite dropping its first game of the match, the Princeton women's volleyball team took the first match of the Colgate Invitational Friday night with a 3-1 win over Canisius. Lauren Grumet had a team-best 21 kills, and former Ivy League Rookie of the Year Kellie Cramm returned to spark Princeton with with 14 kills and three aces.
Princeton dropped the first game 30-25, but rallied to defeat the Golden Griffins 30-22 in the second game. The final two games were tight until the end, but Princeton came away with 31-29 and 30-28 wins to clinch the match. With the win, the Tigers improved to 2-2 for the season. They will face LaSalle and Colgate tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m.
Grumet's 21-kill effort was tops among four Tigers with double-digit kills. Cramm and Alex Brown each had 14 kills, while Ashley Weber had 11 kills in only 25 attempts. Sophomore setter Jenny Senske had a season-high 55 assists, while freshman Jenny McReynolds led Princeton with 20 digs.
