Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton men's indoor track team defeated Navy 91-71 Saturday afternoon in a dual meet held at Princeton's Jadwin Gymnasium. Strong performances by Josh Kauke, Austin Smith, Paul Lyons and Josh McCaughey helped lift the Tigers to the victory.
Kauke put forth one of Princeton's top performances in the 800 meter when he finished in a time of 1:52.12, better than two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Smith also had a strong showing, completing the 3000 meter run in 8:17.74, almost a half second ahead of Navy's Erik Schmidt in second place.
Lyons and McCaughey both excelled for the Tigers in the field events. Lyons won the shot put with a throw of 57 feel and three inches, while McCaughey won the 35 pound weight throw when he threw it 63 feet and 10 inches.
Princeton next races after the exam break on Jan. 24 when the Tigers host the Princeton relays.
