Women's Hockey Season Begins Saturday at No. 10 Providence

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's hockey team (0-0-0; 0-0-0 ECACHL) kicks off the 2004-05 season this weekend with a pair of games this weekend at No. 10 Providence (3-1-0, 0-0-0 HE). Princeton has won its last two season-openers and will hope to make it three when the Tigers and Friars meet Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Fans can follow the action of both games with livestats on Gametracker, while Saturday's game will be broadcast live on Cox Cable Channel 3 in Rhode Island.
Princeton and Providence have met 52 times with Providence controlling the all-time series 42-7-3. Princeton however has controlled things of late and is unbeaten in six following wins in each of the past two seasons. Last season Princeton posted a 4-2 win at Baker Rink, while the Tigers posted a 4-3 win the year before in Providence.
The Princeton women enter the weekend following an exhibition game and a scrimmage last weekend. The Tigers defeated the Toronto Jr. Aeros in an exhibition contest Friday, 5-4, before a 4-4 scrimmage tie at Yale on Saturday. Providence has played four games this season, splitting its opening series at Colgate before sweeping Vermont a week ago. In Friday's exhibition win, junior Chrissie Norwich posted a goal and added two assists to lead Princeton offensively. Sophomores Laura Watt and Liz Keady each added a goal and assist while junior Tarah Clark had two assists. On Saturday, junior Heather Jackson had two assists as four different Tigers tallied goals in the tie.

Princeton is 11-13-1 in season-openers and 5-8-0 when that opener has come away from home.
Princeton is 8-4-1 against Hockey East teams since the league was formed at the start of the 2002-03 season. Princeton has won both meetings with Providence in that span. Last season Princeton was 5-2-0 against Hockey East teams.
