Box Score
Alex Brown had a team-high 19 kills and hit .444 for the match and Lauren Grumet had 12 kills and a team-high 28 digs as the Princeton women's volleyball team got back on track with a 3-1 victory over Brown in an Ivy League match played at Dillon Gym Saturday.
Game scores were 25-30, 30-25, 30-27 and 30-21.
The Tigers (15-6, 6-3 Ivy), who had lost to Brown (7-13, 4-5 Ivy) in four games in Providence three weeks ago, got behind again Saturday as the Bears hit .283 in the first game and won the game 30-25. But Brown (Alex, that is) then led the Tigers to a 30-25 win in Game 2, and Princeton pulled away late in a tight Game 3 for a 30-27 win. Princeton took a 7-1 lead early in Game 4 and, despite a comeback by the Bears that tied the game at several points, pulled away late and scored the last four points of the match in a 30-21 victory.
Lauren Loban added 12 kills and 11 digs for the Tigers, while Ashley Weber had 10 kills and Jenny McReynolds had 26 digs. Libero Elvina Kung helped give the Bears the lead early in the match with tremendous defense and finished with a match-high 39 digs.
Lauren Gibbs led Brown with 19 kills, while Julie Mandolini-Trummel had 14 kills. The Bears hit just -.019 in the fourth game after hitting near .200 for the first three games of the match.
Princeton, still in the hunt for the Ivy League title, hosts Columbia and Cornell at Dillon Gym next weekend.
