Final Stats
For the second consecutive game, the Princeton men's soccer team failed to score. Fortunately for the Tigers they kept their opponents off the board once again, too. American and Princeton played 110 minutes of soccer Wednesday night at Lourie-Love Field and went home with a 0-0 tie to show for it.
The Tigers' best scoring chance came late in the second half when Ryan Rich fired a header in the goal box, but Eagle goalie Chris Sedlak made the stop.
American had some close calls of its own. David Marut got ahead of his defender in the 71st minute and let loose with a shot that got by Princeton goalie Erik White but sailed wide left. In the 90th minute, a crossing pass from the corner got over the head of White and took a high bounce just inches from the goal line but the Tigers were able to clear.
Overtime yielded only one major scoring threat when a hard shot by American's Sal Caccavale in the 104th minute forced White to make a diving save to his left.
In 99 years of Princeton men's soccer this is the first time the team has ever had consecutive scoreless ties.
Princeton returns to Lourie-Love Field for the final game in a three-game homestand Saturday evening at 7:00 pm against Brown.
