Three Princeton field hockey players--seniors Lizzie Black and Natalie Martirosian and freshman Paige Schmidt--have been named to the STX/NFHCA Division I All Mid-Atlantic Regional team announced Tuesday.
Both Black, a defender, and Martirosian, a midfielder, earned first-team all-region honors. Schmidt, a midfielder, was a second-team selection.
Black finished third on the Tigers with 12 points this season (four goals, four assists) while starting all 17 games. Also a first-team All-Ivy League pick in 2004, she was a first-team all-region selection previously in 2002.
Martirosian, whose 11 assists in 2004 were the fifth-most in a single season in program history, earns first-team all-region honors for the third straight season. A team captain in 2004, her 30 career assists are fifth all-time at Princeton. She also earned first-team All-Ivy honors for the third year in a row.
Schmidt had four goals and a team-high 50 shots as a freshman while starting 16 games for the Tigers. She was twice named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week during her freshman year.
Princeton finished 7-10 overall in 2004 and 5-2 in Ivy League play. The Tigers finished a game behind co-champions Harvard and Penn in league play.
