PRINCETON - The No. 8 Princeton women's hockey team (4-3-1, 2-2-0 ECACHL) will host Yale (5-3-0; 4-2-0) at 7 pm tonight at Baker Rink. Over the past two seasons, the Tigers have split the series with the Bulldogs and have finished ahead of Yale in the conference standings as well.
The Tigers are coming off a road weekend in Erie, Pa., where they played No. 11 Mercyhurst (7-3-2). Mercyhurst shut out Princeton 3-0 for their first meeting but ended up falling 1-0 to Princeton the next day. Junior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel's 34 saves along with the lone goal by junior co-captain Heather Jackson secured the win for the Tigers.
Yale is coming off one of their most successful weekends on the road, outscoring Union 12-0 and improving to 4-2-0 in the conference. At 5-3 overall, Yale is off to their best start in ten years. Princeton sophomore forward Liz Keady is back at home after missing the last two home games to play for Team U.S.A in the Four Nations Cup two weeks ago. Despite those two absences, Keady is still tied for the team lead in points with six. Also with six team points are sophomore forward Laura Watt and junior forward Heather Jackson. Sophomore forward Kim Pearce has a team-high four goals scored on the season.
Tonight's contest will be broadcast on USCHO.com as the "Game of the Week." Coverage will start at 6:50 p.m. This weekend, the Tigers will remain at home to play a weekend set against Connecticut.
