Women's Basketball Falls 76-43 To Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, N.C. -- A close second half wasn't enough to lift Princeton past Wake Forest as the Tigers fell 76-43, Friday night in Reynolds Gym. Princeton's record drops to 1-2 on the season while Wake Forest improves to 2-0. In the second half the Tigers gained momentum and looked to close the gap early after scoring five quick points off a three-pointer and lay-up from freshman Meagan Cowher. The Demon Deacons surged back and build a 66-31 lead at the 9:36 mark. However, with a little over five minutes remaining in the game the Tigers went on an 8-0 run, charged by sophomore Shelly Slemp and chipped at a 70-42 lead. Wake Forest called a quick timeout to regroup. After the huddle Liz Strunk made one of the 12 three-pointers made by the Demon Deacons and ended Princeton's run. The first half was marked by sophomore Katy Digovich who scored the first nine points for the Tigers. Princeton trailed 12-4 at the 15:25 mark and tried to battled back but was called for 10 first half fouls. Wake Forest connected on nine field-goals from behind the arc and had a 49-20 lead at the half. Digovich led Princeton with 16 points and six boards, while Cowher finished the night with nine points. The Tigers play Georgia Tech Sunday, Nov. 28th at 2 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
