Cowher Leads Tigers Past New Orleans, 47-36

Princeton N.J. - Freshman Meagan Cowher scored 13 points to lead women's basketball past New Orleans, 47-36, Saturday afternoon. Princeton improves to 3-5 on the season, while the Privateers fall to 0-9.
Cowher opened the scoring for the Tigers following a baseline jumper five minutes into the game. With a lay-up from senior Kristin Lynch, Cowher added six more points that opened an 8-4 run on New Orleans and gave Princeton a 10-6 advantage.
The Privateers regained a brief 16-15 lead at the 6:40 following a three-pointer from Kori Bledsoe, who finished with six points.
Sophomore Katy Digovich then went on a scoring spree with seven points off two lay-ups and a three-pointer to give the Tigers a 22-20 lead into the locker rooms. Digovich finished the game with 11 points and six rebounds, including four off the offensive glass. Princeton recorded 12 steals in the game and registered seven of them in the second half, while junior Ali Smith had four of them.
The Tigers opened up a seven-point lead (31-27) with 13:10 left in the game following a 9-4 run capped by a made three from junior Katy O'Brien. Princeton then went up 32-27 after Smith connected on a free throw.
Junior Lauren Nestor's jumper from the left elbow gave the Tigers a 10-point advantage, 41-31 with just under four minutes remaining. Princeton's largest lead of the game came at the 1:06 mark after Cowher drove from the charity stripe and set the score at 45-34.
The Tigers host Mount St. Mary's on Monday, Dec. 20. Patriot Media will broadcast the 7:05 tip-off.
