Women's Hockey Hosts Colgate and Cornell in Final Home Games of 2004

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's hockey team (6-4-1; 2-3 ECACHL) hosts Colgate (6-7; 1-3) and Cornell (3-4-1; 3-3) this weekend to close out a stretch in which the Tigers will have played nine of 11 games at home. Princeton meets the Raiders Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Big Red Saturday at 4 p.m. Admission to both games is free of charge.

It's Gameday... The Princeton women's hockey team closes out a five-game homestand this weekend against ECAC Hockey League foes Colgate and Cornell. Including this weekend's games, Princeton will have played nine of its first 13 games on home ice. Twelve of the final 16 will be played away from home.
Last Time Out... Princeton went 2-1 last week at home. On Wednesday night, the Tigers fell to Yale 2-1, but rebounded with a pair of two-goal wins over the weekend against Connecticut.
Princeton vs. Colgate... Colgate is 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the ECAC Hockey League this season. Colgate's lone league win came at Vermont and the Raiders have dropped close games at Dartmouth, Harvard and Brown. Colgate has non-league wins over Providence, Quinnipiac, Wayne State, Niagara and Maine.
The Series with the Raiders... Princeton leads its all-time series against Colgate 6-0-0. The teams first met in 1980 but have played regularly since Colgate joined the league for the 2001-02 season. After shutting out Colgate in the first three meetings, the Tigers have allowed one goal in each of the last six games in the series.
Princeton vs. Cornell... The Big Red enter the weekend 3-4-1 overall and 3-3 in ECAC Hockey League action. Cornell was swept by Harvard and Brown to open the season, then swept Union the following weekened to climb to .500. A split with Vermont and Dartmouth puts Cornell at 3-3 in the league. Last weekend, Cornell had a tie and a loss at Wayne State.
The Series with the Big Red... Princeton is 33-19-2 all-time against Cornell. Princeton is 18-7-2 against Cornell on home ice and brings an overall win streak of eight games versus the Big Red into Saturday's game
Looking Ahead... Following this weekend, Princeton will play its next seven games away from Baker Rink. Next weekend the Tigers will play at Northeastern on Saturday afternoon and at Boston College on Sunday. The Tigers are then off until a New Year's Day game at New Hampshire. Princeton's next game at Baker Rink will be on Feb. 4 against Clarkson.
A Look at Last Weekend... Princeton posted its fifth and sixth wins of the season by holding Connecticut to just one goal in two games. Sophomore Laura Watt led the Tiger offense with two goals and two assists last week, while junior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel allowed just one goal over the weekend and three goals over the course of the three games.
Contributing Goals... Sophomore Kim Pearce and junior Heather Jackson each had a pair of goals for the Tigers over the week. Pearce now leads the team with six goals, while Jackson has climbed to second in overall points with eight points.
Scoring Chart... Watt's four-point week lifted her to the top of the Princeton scoring charts with 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Jackson and sophomore Liz Keady are two points back with eight, while Pearce and sophomore Dina McCumber are two back of them with six.
