Women's Water Polo Opens Season With Two Wins

Princeton, N.J. - The women's water polo team opened its 2004 season with two big wins in its home pool. The Tigers defeated Marist 17-2 in the first game of the annual Princeton Invitational and ended the day with an 8-2 win over Ivy League rival Harvard.
In the first game against Marist, freshman Jessica Ajoux led the team with 4 goals, while Jazi Brown added 3. Senior Lauren Lister played in the goal for the first half and had 3 saves, while freshman Shannon DeVore played the second half and had two saves.
In the nightcap the Tiger defense was great. Senior Lauren Lister held Harvard scoreless for the first half of the game and finished with a total of 6 goals. Lister had been called into action with junior Madleine McCarthy injured with a bad ankle. The Tiger scoring was a team effort led by Elyse Colgan with two goals, Megan Donahue had two and 4 other players each combined for a goal each.
Princeton plays Michigan tomorrow, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. and George Washington at 5 p.m.
