Women's Hockey Drops First Game of ECAC Quarterfinals at Brown

Providence, R.I. - The Princeton women's hockey team fell 2-1 to Brown in the first game of the best-of-three ECAC quarterfinals at Meehan Auditorium. Brown went ahead 1-0 in the second but Princeton knotted the game at one apiece on junior Katharine Maglione's second goal of the season, but Brown scored the game-winner at 14:15 to earn the win.
Brown opened the scoring in the second period on Jessica Link's goal at 2:33. The Bears outshot Princeton 18-5 in the period but could not crack senior goaltender Megan Van Beusekom for another goal.
Princeton evened the score up at 11:33 of the third on Maglione's tally. Freshmen Kim Pearce and Laura Watt assisted on the goal. The tie did not last long however, as Keaton Zucker scored at 14:15 to lift Brown to the 2-1 win.
Van Beusekom finished the game with 36 saves while Brown's Katie Germain made 17.
The teams meet in Game 2 tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
