Water Polo Wins Two More In California

Los Angeles, Calif. - Elyse Colgan scored eight goals, including two in overtime, to lead Princeton to a 2-1 record in its final two days of its Spring Break trip. The Tigers defeated Redlands 13-7 and Cal Baptist 13-11 in overtime, but fell to Loyola Marymount 10-2.
Megan Donahue scored four goals and Colgan added three in Princeton's 13-7 win over Redlands. After the Tigers took a 6-4 halftime lead, Donahue scored three third-quarter goals to pace the Tigers in the second half.
Kathryn Parolin added one goal, two assists and three steals while Danielle Carlson had one goal and two assists. Madeline McCarthy had three saves in three quarters in goal before Lauren Lister relieved her in the fourth. Jessica Hartkins, Courtney Mee, Karina Reyner and Jessica Ajoux each added one goal for Princeton. Against Cal Baptist, Colgan and Jazmin Brown led Princeton with five and three goals, including two apiece in the overtime periods. The Tigers trailed 3-2 after the first quarter when Zitren scored an outside shot and Colgan added another goal.
In the second quarter, Colgan scored a four meter and Donahue and Brown each chipped in goals for a 5-4 halftime lead. Princeton led 9-8 with less than a minute to play in regulation before Cal Baptist tied the score and sent the game into overtime.
Brown won the sprint to start the first extra period but Cal Baptist answered goals from her and Colgan to send the game into a second overtime at 11-11. The two freshmen scored the only goals of the sixth period for the 13-11 win.
Brown had four steals and three assists while winning all three of her sprints. Donahue and Zitren each added four and three steals, and McCarthy played all six periods in goal, making four saves and one steal.
In Princeton's final game of its Spring Break trip, Zitren scored an outside shot and Brown added another goal for a 2-1 first quarter lead over Loyola Marymount, but the Tigers did not score again. Princeton went 0 for 3 on its man-up opportunities and McCarthy had three saves in the 10-2 loss to LMU.
