Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team defeated Stony Brook 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Clarke Field. Junior Ross Ohlendorf pitched seven scoreless innings and tied a career high with nine strikeouts. Sophomore Matthew Becker provided the offense with a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Ohlendorf allowed just two hits in the game to improve to 3-1 on the season. It was his first complete game outing of the season. Princeton had eight hits in the game, but struggled to put runs on the board until the fifth inning.
Senior Tim Lahey led off with an infield single, but was called out when junior Will Venable hit into a fielder's choice. After an out, Becker hit a 3-2 pitch well over the left-field wall for his second homer of the season.
Princeton continues the doubleheader late today against Stony Brook.
