Senior McCracken Scores Career-High 13 Points In Loss To Harvard

Centers Becky Brown and Maureen McCracken combined for 31 points and 15 rebounds in Princeton's 68-53 loss to Harvard at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers outscored Harvard 34-33 and committed just six turnovers in the second half but it was too late to make up for a 35-19 halftime deficit.
Princeton dropped to 6-20 overall and 3-10 in the Ivy League with just one game remaining while Harvard improved to 14-11 and 7-5.
The game was tight for the first five minutes before Harvard opened up a 21-13 lead at 11:35. Katy O'Brien hit her second three of the game, cutting the Crimson's lead to 21-16 before Harvard went on a 10-0 run in the next seven minutes. Katy Digovich hit a three but Princeton did not score again in the half, entering the break down 35-19. Harvard's Hana Peljto already had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the first half and Reka Cserny had eight points and four boards for the Crimson. Harvard went 11 for 11 from the free throw line, while Princeton did not get to the line.
The Tigers were outrebounded 24-17 in the first half and had 13 turnovers to just four by the Crimson. Harvard scored 14 points off turnovers, despite shooting just 29% from the field and 15% behind the arc (2 for 13).
Harvard led by as many as 27 points in the second half despite improved play from the Tigers. The Crimson finished with a 45-36 edge in rebounding and with five less turnovers. Princeton shot 38% from the floor and hit 4 of 14 three pointers while Harvard shot 34% and were just 6 of 23 from long range.
Brown led Princeton with 18 points and seven rebounds while McCracken added a career-high 13 points and eight boards. Peljto had a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Crimson, who also had Cserny (17 points) and Jessica Holsey (11 points) in double-digit scoring.
Princeton hosts Dartmouth tomorrow, Saturday March 6 at 7 p.m. The Tigers will honor seniors McCracken and Mary Cate Opila before tipoff.
