Women's Hoops Wins Final Game Of Season 66-58 Over Dartmouth

Princeton, N.J. - Becky Brown had 24 points and nine rebounds as the Princeton women's basketball team won its final game of the season, defeating Dartmouth 66-58 in Jadwin Gym. Senior Maureen McCracken added eight points and six rebounds in her final game, which was also the last for Mary Cate Opila.
Princeton used nine players to build as much as a nine-point first-half lead despite falling behind early. Dartmouth led 12-7 at 14:12 before Brown scored the next 11 points for Princeton, knotting the score 16-16 at 11:41.
Ali Smith came off the bench and nailed a three-pointer at 9:41 that gave Princeton a 21-20 lead, its first since an early 6-5 edge. Elyse Umeda, Katy Digovich and Lillie Romeiser also connected behind the arc as the Tigers rallied to a 36-29 lead at the break. Princeton shot 50% from the floor, 86% from the foul line, and hit 4 of 6 three-point attempts in the first half while Dartmouth was just 42% overall and 2 for 12 (17%) from the arc. The Tigers also outrebounded the Big Green 17-11. Brown led all scorers with 11 points at the half.
The Tigers extended their lead to double digits immediately in the second half with a Lauren Nestor three. Princeton briefly let Dartmouth back in the game with costly turnovers that produced a 7-0 run for the Big Green. The Tigers led by just one, 41-40, before another three from Smith and a three-point play from Brown helped Princeton regain its 10-point lead at 6:44.
Digovich finished with 12 points and seven rebounds while Nestor added six points, six rebounds and three assists. Jeannie Cullen, Angie Soriaga and Elise Morrison scored 17, 15 and 10 points for Dartmouth.
Princeton ends its season with a 7-20 overall record and in last place at 4-10 in the Ivy League. Dartmouth is 15-11 and 8-5 with a game against Harvard this Tuesday.
