Water Polo Team Crushes Maryland 15-2 To Advance To Southern Championship Title Game

Villanova, Pa. - Jessica Ajoux had three goals and four steals to lead the Princeton women's water polo team past Maryland 15-2 and into the Southern Championship title game at Villanova. The Tigers led 9-0 after the first quarter and held the Terrapins scoreless until the fourth.
Jazmin Brown won the sprint in the first quarter and scored three early goals to spark the Tigers. Anne Olson, Kelly Melia-Teevan, Karina Reyner, Samantha Shaughnessy, Jessica Ajoux and Megan Donahue all chipped in one goal apiece for a 9-0 Princeton lead in the first.
The Tigers led 11-0 at the half and 14-0 after the third quarter. Lauren Lister had three saves and one steal in goal during the first half before Shannon DeVore relieved her for two saves in the second half.
Princeton went 2 for 5 on its man-up opportunities and played exceptional defense, getting five steals from Danielle Carlson and four from Ajoux and Melia-Teevan. J.J. Ryu added three steals for the Tigers.
Princeton meets George Washington in the championship game on Sunday April 18.
