Coppola Leads Princeton Contingent at World Rowing Championships

Princeton, N.J. - Junior Steve Coppola led a contingent of six rowers with Princeton ties at the World Championships in Banyoles, Spain last week. Coppola was the lone Princetonian to medal in the event, as his boat, the U.S. men's 4+, placed third, less than .5 seconds behind the race-winning crew from Italy. The Italian crew edged out Canada by .02 seconds. Other Princeton connections competing in Spain were John Wachter '04, Bill Fedyna '00, Simon Carcagno '98, Leah Pernell '03, and Jesse Karmazin '07. Coaches Greg Hughes and Mike Zimmer were also in Spain for the racing.
