Women's Volleyball Moves To 7-1 With Home-Opening Win

PRINCETON - Alex Brown had 18 kills while Jenny Senske recorded 48 assists to lead the Princeton women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Lafayette Tuesday night. The Tigers improved to 7-1 with the win.
Lafayette jumped out to an early lead and held on to a 30-24 win in the first game. Princeton bounced back for a 30-20 win in the second game, setting up a crucial third game. The Tigers took a 18-10 lead before Lafayette made a run to get back into it. Princeton watched the Leopards cut the lead to 20-17 before Tiger libero Jenny McReynolds served Princeton to a 6-0 run that put the game away. The home team cruised to a 30-17 victory in the fourth game.
Lauren Loban, in her first home match as a starter, recorded 15 kills and 14 digs, while Lauren Grumet had 13 kills and 15 digs. Brittany Wood added eight kills and six blocks. As a team, Princeton hit .230 for the match, including a .353 effort in the final game.
Veronica Canto-Ponce led Lafayette with 21 kills, while Heidi Olichwier with 47 assists.
Princeton will travel to nearby Rider University this weekend to compete in the Rider Tournament. The Tigers will face Rider on Saturday and Seton Hall and Delaware on Sunday.
