Paige Schmidt Named Ivy League Player of the Week

Princeton, N.J. - Princeton sophomore Paige Schmidt was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on Tuesday for the week ending on Oct. 2. Schmidt scored both of Princeton's goals on Friday night as the Tigers knocked off Cornell 2-1 in a battle of Ivy League unbeatens.
The win gave Princeton sole possession of first place in the league standings with a record of 4-0. There are three teams behind the Tigers with one loss. Schmidt led all players with six shots in Friday night's game, and she made her first two count, as she gave Princeton a 2-0 lead in the game's first 17 minutes. The goal's were her third and fourth of the season which give her 12 total points to lead the Tigers. In Princeton's 3-2 loss to No. 15 Villanova on Sunday, Schmidt had a team-high five shots, one on goal.
Schmidt currently ranks second in the Ivy League in points and is tied for third in both goals and assists. She is the second TIger this season to receive Player of the Week honors.
Princeton is back in action Friday night against Hofstra at 6 p.m.
