Princeton, N.J. - Princeton women's hockey junior Kim Pearce and senior Roxanne Gaudiel were named the ECAC Hockey League's Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday for their performances last weekend as the eighth-ranked Tigers took three points from No. 9 Clarkson and top-ranked St. Lawrence.
Pearce, Princeton's leading scorer this season, had a hand in all three Tiger goals on the weekend. On Friday in the 2-1 win against Clarkson, Pearce had an assist on junior Laura Watt's goal to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. She then scored unassisted on a breakaway to give Princeton a 2-0 lead and the goal turned out to be the game winner as Clarkson added a late tally. On Saturday, Pearce scored the game-tying goal on the power play with four minutes left to forge a 1-1 tie with St. Lawrence.
Gaudiel backstopped the Tigers in both games, allowing a single goal in each game. In all she stopped 50 of the 52 shots she faced for a .961 save percentage in the two games. Gaudiel made 20 save son Friday and 30 on Saturday.
The awards were Princeton's first two weekly awards of the season. In previous weeks, Pearce was named to league's honor roll twice, while sophomore Brittany Salmon has one honor roll appearance.
