Princeton, N.J. - Princeton freshman forward Annie Greenwood earned the ECAC Hockey League's Rookie of the Week award on Monday for her two-goal weekend against Mercyhurst. Greenwood scored a goal in each game, including Princeton's overtime game-winning goal in Saturday afternoon's contest.
Greenwood has four goals and two assists for six points through 10 games in her rookie season. She leads all Princeton freshmen in scoring.
Greenwood scored her first goal of the weekend in Friday night's 3-2 loss to Mercyhurst. Down 1-0 in the second period, she directed a pass from junior Laura Watt into the Laker goal to make the score 1-1. Mercyhurst would win that game with a goal at 19:59 of the third period.
The following day's game was back-and-forth with each team leading before reaching the end of regulation tied 3-3. The game would only last another 23 seconds as Greenwood shot home a rebound to lift Princeton to the 4-3 win. The goal was her second game winner as she also scored the game winner in Princeton's 4-1 win at Ohio State.
The award is Princeton's third ECACHL weekly award this season. Junior Kim Pearce and senior Roxanne Gaudiel were league's Player and Goaltender of the Week last week.
Additionally, junior defenseman Dina McCumber was named to the league's honor roll. McCumber had a career-high, three points on two goals and an assist, in Saturday's 4-3 win.
Princeton is back in action on Friday night when the Tigers host ECACHL and Ivy foe Cornell at Baker Rink.
