Box Score
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Despite a solid victory in the opening game, the Princeton women's volleyball team was unable to pull the upset against defending champion and 2004 NCAA representative Yale Friday night in New Haven, Conn. The Bulldogs swept the last three games to win the match and officially eliminate Princeton from the league race.
Princeton won the opening game by a 30-23 score, but Yale battled back with a 30-16 win in the second game. The third game would swing momentum either way, and both teams knew it. Consecutive kills by Lauren Grumet and Brittany Wood pushed Princeton to game ball at 29-26, but Yale would come up with the next four points to extend the game. Following a kill by Grumet to even the score at 30-30, Kristen Wilk killed two in a row to clinch the game. Yale took that momentum and built a 7-1 lead in the fourth game en route to a comfortable 30-21 win.
Grumet had 19 kills and 12 digs for Princeton, while freshman middle Lindsey Ensign had 12 kills and hit .375. Jenny Senske led the offense with 51 assists while Jenny McReynolds had a match-high 29 digs.
Princeton will face Brown Saturday at 4 p.m.
