Cambridge, Mass. - Senior Sarah Butsch and junior Dina McCumber each posted a goal and an assist, but it was not enough as the Princeton women's hockey team fell 3-2 to Harvard on Saturday afternoon at the Bright Hockey Center. The Tigers outshot Harvard 32-21 in the game but fell short in the end by a goal.
After a scoreless first period, the Tigers opened a 1-0 lead in the second period on McCumber's first goal of the year. The goal came on the power play and was assisted by freshman Christine Foster and Butsch. The assist was the first career point for Foster. The goal came at 12:59 of the second and Princeton held the lead for 1:09 when Jennifer Raimondi scored her first of two goals in the game on the power
Raimondi's second goal gave Harvard a 2-1 lead at 6:41 of the third period. Sarah Wilson scored to give Harvard a two-goal lead at 12:34 of the period. The goal also came on the power play.
Trying to rally late in the period, the Tigers scored on the power play with their goaltender pulled. Butsch scored the goal with an assist to McCumber with 1:14 left in the game. That, however, was as close as Princeton would get as Harvard held off Princeton over the final minute.
Princeton senior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel finished the night with 18 saves while Harvard goaltender Ali Boe made 30 saves.
Princeton is back in action next Friday night at Ohio State.
