Princeton, N.J. - Princeton senior Hillary Schmidt was named the Ivy League's Player of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 6 after she scored the game-winning goal last Friday in Princeton's win over Penn. The goal secured the win for Princeton, as well as a perfect 7-0 Ivy League record.
Schmidt scored with 10 minutes remaining in Friday night's game at Penn to lift Princeton to a 2-1 win over the Quakers. The goal was Schmidt's fifth of the season and she now trails only her sister, sophomore Paige, on the Princeton scoring charts with 18 points.
Schmidt's award marks the fifth time a Princeton player was honored with an Ivy League weekly award. Sophomore Paige Schmidt has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week twice and Lauren Ehrlichman has been named Player of the Week once, and freshman Candi Arner won a Rookie of the Week Award.
Schmidt and her teammates will find out their NCAA first-round opponent this evening when the NCAA announces the field for the field hockey championship.
