Final Stats
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A pair of individual wins by Doug Lennox, Meir Hasbani and Mike Zee and a dominant performances in the relays led the Princeton men's swimming team to a comfortable win this weekend at the Brown Invitational. Princeton outscored Brown by 546 points to claim the Invitational and a dual victory over the Bears.
Princeton opened the weekend with a tight victory in the 200 IM. The Tigers came in at 1:24.03, less than .1 of a second faster than Brown's top team. That would prove to be a trend for the entire Invitational, as the overall Princeton team proved to be too much for the rest of the field, which included Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Freshman Robert Griest won the first individual event, topping three of his teammates to win the 500 free. Griest came in at 4:33.59, topping Brian Shue, Dan Eckel and Stan Buncher.
Princeton closed Friday's session by taking the 400 medley relay in 3:27.16, and it came back to open Saturday by taking the 200 medley in 1:34.16.
Hasbani started the Saturday individual sessions by taking the 400 IM in 4:02.90, and Doug Lennox followed that with an NCAA B-qualifying time of 48.55 in the 100 butterfly. Ryan McCabe won the 100 free in 1:43.45, and Seok Lee won the 100 breast in 59.22. Zee claimed Saturday's last win by finishing first in the 100 back in a time of 51.03. Zee added a Sunday win in the 200 back (1:50.83), and Lennox took the 100 free in 47.05. Hasbani earned Princeton's final win in the 200 fly, coming in at 1:52.91.
