PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton junior forward Kim Pearce was named the ECAC Hockey League's Player of the Week for the second time this season after she scored a team-leading seven points in wins last weekend against Cornell and Colgate. Pearce posted six assists in the team's 7-0 shutout of Cornell.
Pearce has four goals and 16 assists for 20 points through 12 games to lead the Tigers. Those numbers put her second in the league in points and tied for first in assists. She is the top player in both categories per game. She is tied for third in the nation in points per game (1.67) and tied for first in assists (1.33).
On Friday night, Pearce had in hand in all but one Tiger goal as she notched six assists in the 7-0 victory. She assisted on the first six goals in the game to become the first Tiger to record six assists in a game since Kathy Issel had seven against RIT on Dec. 12, 1992. The following day, Pearce assisted on freshman Annie Greenwood's game winner as the Tigers knocked off Colgate 6-2.
The award is the second of the season for Pearce, who was named the Player of the Week after the Tigers took three-of-four points from Clarkson and St. Lawrence earlier in the season.
This is the third-straight week that Princeton has won at least one of the three weekly awards. Last week, Greenwood was the Rookie of the Week and the week prior to that Pearce was the Player of the Week and senior Roxanne Gaudiel was the Goalie of the Week.
Additionally, Greenwood and Gaudiel were named to the league's honor roll. Greenwood scored five goals on the weekend, including four against Colgate, while Gaudiel stopped 30 of 32 shots to pick up two wins.
Princeton is back in action on Tuesday night when Quinnipiac visits Baker Rink.
