PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton freshman Annie Greenwood received her send weekly award this season when she was selected as the USCHO Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Greenwood scored five goals over the weekend, and with the Tigers first goal last night, has scored in five-straight games.
After scoring just 19 goals in its first nine games, the Princeton offense has produced 19 in its last four, and Greenwood has played a leading role in that surge. The New Canaan, Conn. native has scored in eight goals in her five-game streak, including four goals on Saturday against Colgate, who had previously been undefeated in league play. Greenwood needed just over 15 minutes to net a hat trick against the Raiders, one of the nation's 10 best defensive teams. Greenwood now has 10 goals for the season, five more than any other player on the sixth-ranked Tigers.
Junior Kim Pearce, who had seven assists over the weekend, was a runner-up for the award, along with Julia Colizza and Valerie Chouinard, both of Mercyhurst.
Greenwood's award is the second USCHO award for Princeton this season. Senior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 22. Pearce was an offensive runner-up that week.
