Princeton, N.J. - Junior Sarah Butsch of the Princeton women's hockey team was named the ECAC Hockey League's Player of the Week today after her performance last weekend in the Tigers' three-point weekend at Cornell and Colgate. Butsch scored three goals at the end of the Cornell game to lift the Tigers to victory.
Down 5-3 with two minutes remaining to Cornell, Butsch went onto to key a Princeton comeback with three goals in a span of 2:37 as the Tigers posted a 6-5 win. It was the first hat trick of her career and the overtime game-winner was her third game-winning goal of the season.
Butsch has scored several key goals in her career at Princeton. Nine of her 20 career goals are either game-winning or game-tying goals. The award is her first and she became the second Tiger in three weeks to take the award after sophomore Dina McCumber became the Tigers first winner three weeks ago.
Freshman Brittany Salmon was named to the league's honor roll after having a hand in the game-winning goal on Friday at Cornell and scoring the game-tying goal the following day at Colgate.
Princeton returns to action on Friday night at Vermont.
