Tigers Defeat Bucknell, Fall to San Diego State in Women's Water Polo

San Diego, Calif. - The Princeton women's water polo team split a pair of games on Sunday as the 16th-ranked Tigers fell to No. 11 San Diego State 10-7 and defeated Bucknell 9-5. Danielle Carlson had six goals in the two contests to pace the Tigers, who are now 15-6 on the season.
In the first game of the day for Princeton, the Tigers fell behind in the first quarter to the Aztecs 2-0, before Elyse Colgan scored to make it 2-1 after one. The teams traded a pair of goals in the second quarter. First, Carlson tied the score at two, then after San Diego State made it 3-2, Colgan scored her second goal to make it 3-3. The Aztecs added a goal late to take a 4-3 lead to the half.
San Diego State pulled away with four goals in the second half to one score by Princeton. The Tigers outscored the Aztecs 3-2 in the final frame but could not get back to even the score up as San Diego State pulled out the win. Carlson scored four goals and Colgan had two. Courtney Mee also scored a goal.

In the nightcap, Princeton faced league rival Bucknell in a game that counted towards the CWPA Southern Division standings. In the game, Princeton jumped out to a 4-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Carlson and Anne-Lise Maag opened the scoring to give Princeton a 2-0 lead. Bucknell chipped a goal off the lead, bu additional goals from Carolina Ardila and Carlson gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead after one. Ardila and Carlson paced the Tigers in the game as each scored two goals. Natalie Kim made seven saves in three quarters for the win, while Madeline McCarthy made two saves in the final quarter.
