Mike Weishuhn, in the high jump, Andrew Park, in the pole vault, and Dwaine Banton, in the long jump, all posted NCAA regional qualifying marks in their respective events to lead the Princeton men's track team in a quad meet with Penn, Rutgers and Villanova Saturday afternoon at Weaver Track & Field Stadium.
Weishuhn won the high jump event with a leap of 2.10 meters, or 6-10 3/4, reaching the NCAA regional qualifying mark on the nose. Park's pole vault of 16 feet, 10 3/4 inches, or 5.15 meters, easily cleared the NCAA regional qualifying standard. Banton's leap of 24 feet, 11 1/4 inches was also an NCAA regional qualifier.
The Tigers also got strong performances from Ken Stringer, who won the hammer throw with a throw of 178 feet (54.25 meters), and Ray Lenihan, who finished second in the 110-meter hurdles but still had an IC4A qualifying time of 14.56 in the event.
Princeton also dominated the 400 meters, both in the 400 meter race and in the 1600 meter relay event. Princeton's relay team of Justin Reed, Richard Stewart, Dan Saltzman and Mike Kopp won the relay event in 3:44.01, and Saltzman, Kopp and Reed took places one, two and three in the 400 meters individually. Banton also finished third in the 100 meters in 10.75 seconds.
