Lewisburg, Pa. - The 16th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team defeated No. 15 Hartwick 7-6 to claim the ECAC Championship Sunday afternoon at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium. Danielle Carlson and Jazmin Brown each scored twice in the win and Natalie Kim made 16 saves for the Tigers to pick up the win.
"This was a great team effort," said Princeton head coach Luis Nicolao. " We played amazing team defense and were very smart. It is great to win a close game like this over a good team like Hartwick.
Princeton (21-7) opened a 2-1 lead in the first quarter and extended the lead to 4-2 in the second. Hartwick (18-8) made a run in the fourth quarter but Kim made several key saves down the stretch to keep Princeton ahead.
Brown and Elyse Colgan were named first-team All-ECAC and Megan Donahue was named to the second team.
