4X400 Group Leads Men's Track at IC4A Meet

Princeton got strong performances both on the track and in the field events this weekend on the way to a 11th-place finish at the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Weaver Track & Field Stadium.
As usual, the Tigers got a strong performance from their stellar 4X400 relay group, Seniors Justin Reed and Mike Kopp and sophomores Brian Shields and Rich Stewart finished second in that race in 3:08.47 after qualifying second in just over 3:10. Lincoln won the final race in 3:07.42.
In the field, junior Josh Probst had another excellent performance in the javelin, with his best toss of 207 feet, 2 inches (63.15 meters) placing him in third in that event behind Monmouth's Bob Smith and Pitt's Korey Kuehner.
Frank Macreery was also a point scorer for the Tigers in the 5,000 meters, finishing that race in 14:08.47, good for fourth place and five team points for Princeton.
Kyle Whitaker's pole vault clearance of 4.80 meters (15 feet, nine inches) earned three points and was sixth in that competition, while junior Derek Davis's long jump effort of 23 feet, 5 1/2 inches (7.15 meters) was seventh in that event.
Junior Ray Lenihan qualified for the final in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.43 in the prelims.
Princeton's 25 total points were good for 11th place. Rutgers won the IC4A meet with 76 points, followed by Cornell with 59 and George Mason with 54.
