CAMDEN, N.J. - The rivalry between the women's lightweight crews of Princeton and Wisconsin continues to grow. After winning its last two races, the top-ranked Tigers fell to the Badgers in the grand final of the Eastern Sprints.
Both crews, along with third-place Harvard, will be the favorites for the IRA national championship, which will be decided June 5 on Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
Princeton finished in 6:39.7, more than four seconds behind Wisconsin's winning time. The Tigers did come away with two Easterns titles, winning the first novice 8 (6:46.2) and the varsity 4s (7:26.7). Both crews put forth very strong performances and broke course records with their victories. They will look to match or surpass those efforts in three weeks on the same course at Cooper River.
