Junior Meredith Lambert ran 5,000 meters at Princeton's Weaver Track & Field Stadium in 16:43.07, better than seven seconds faster than the second-place finisher, to lead the Princeton women's track team at this weekend's ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Lambert scored 10 points for the Tigers with a first-place performance that outdistanced James Madison's Shannon Saunders by the seven-second margin.
Princeton was also strong in two other distance events--the 1,500 and 3,000 meter runs. Cack Ferrell finished a close third for the Tigers in the 1,500, earning six points with her time of 4:30.14, while sophomore Caroline Mullen ran the 3,000 meters and finished fifth in 10:16.24, good for four points for the Tigers.
The Tigers also earned points in the 4X800 relay, finishing in fourth place in that event. Senior Caitlin Tormey, junior Jordan Wagenseller and standout freshmen Karen Aherne and Liz Bergold finished that race in 9:00.86, trailing only race winner Bucknell as well as Penn and Yale.
Princeton finished the meet with 27 points overall, good for 12th place. Pitt dominated the competition by finishing with 133 points, good for a 57-point margin over second-place Cornell.
