Gainseville, Fla. - The Princeton women's golf team shot a final round 309 to finish 12th at the 2005 NCAA Women's Golf East Regional at the University of Florida's Golf Course. Princeton's three-round total of 911 topped nine teams in the 21-team field. Avery Kiser was Princeton's top finisher in a tie for 28th.
Princeton finished the tournament 11 strokes out of the final transfer spot to the NCAA Championships. That spot was claimed by Washington with a three-round 900. Ohio State won the event, and was followed by Duke, Furman, Pepperdine and Virginia in the top five. Tulane, Florida and Washington completed the transfer spots.
Princeton's 911 was a stroke ahead of Miami and also edged North Carolina State, UNC Wilmington, Mississippi State, East Carolina and Coastal Carolina, which were all ranked ahead of the Tigers in the seedings.
Duke's Ann Grzebien took individual honors as the only player in the field under par. Avery Kiser was the Tigers' top finisher as she was one of five players to tie for 28th at 14-over. Her 224 came on rounds of 76, 74 and 74.
Shrla Cloutier tied for 38th at 17-over at 227. She shot an opening round 77 and then two rounds of 75. Meg Nakamura was the highest Tiger after shooting 74 in the first two rounds, but a final round 81 dropped her to a tie for 51st at 19-over and 229.
Annika Welander tied for 81st at 27-over for a 237. She shot 75, 83 and 79. Taryn Haladay was the final Tiger and she tied for 83rd. Her 28-over came on rounds of 77, 77 and 84 for a 238.
