Princeton, N.J. - Seven members of the Princeton women's water polo team received academic awards from the Collegiate Water Polo Association and the American Water Polo Coaches Association for their work in the classroom during the 2004-05 academic year.
All seven were named to both the AWPCA's Varsity Women's All-Academic Team and the CWPA All-Academic Team. The athletes have achieved GPAs at or above 3.20 to qualify for the team.
The players honored were: sophomore Danielle Carslon, sophomore Shannon DeVore, junior Anne-Lise Maag, senior Madeline McCarthy, senior Kathryn Parolin, sophomore Karina Reyner and sophomore J.J. Ryu.
McCarthy was named to both teams for the fourth Tiger in her career, becoming the first Tiger to achieve the feat. The AWPCA awards were first given out in 2001 and the CWPA awards in 2002. Maag receives both honors for the third time, while DeVore, Reyner and Ryu, are two-time honorees. Parolin and Carslon are first-time members of both teams.
