Princeton, N.J. - Three members of the Princeton women's hockey program are among the 40 players invited to the 2005 USA Hockey National Women's Festival in Lake Placid, N.Y., Aug. 18-25. Current junior Liz Keady and recent alums Megan Van Beusekom '04 and Gretchen Anderson '04 will take part in the festival, which will serve as the selection camp for the 2005-06 U.S. Women's National Team that will train in preparation for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy.
In addition to the three players, Tiger head coach Jeff Kampersal will serve on the coaching staff for the festival.
Keady and Van Beusekom were both named to the roster for the 2005 World Championships. While Keady was forced to miss the event due to an injury sustained at the end of the Princeton season, Van Beusekom was part of Team USA's first gold medal performance at an IIHF World Championship.
Anderson appeared for the U.S. in the Four Nations Cup last November. She was named to the 2004 National Team for the World Championships, but the event, schedule to take place in Beijing, was canceled due to the SARS outbreak in China.
Andrea Kilbourne '03 became the first Princeton women's hockey player to compete in the Olympics, when she skated for the U.S. at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
