Box Score
Lawrence, N.J. - Lauren Grumet recorded 16 kills while Jenny McReynolds had 23 digs to help lead the Princeton women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win at Rider in the opener of the Rider Classic. The Tigers earned a pair of tight wins before pushing forward for a comfortable win in the third game.
Princeton took the match 30-27, 31-29 and 30-21 to improve to 3-1 on the season. Rider, which defeated Princeton last season, fell to 2-8.
The Tigers were not as crisp offensively as they were at last weekend's Colgate Tournament, but they gave themselves plenty of opportunities with 82 total digs. The NCAA leader in digs last season, Princeton got double-digit performances from McReynolds, Grumet (13), Sasha Sadrai (13), Parker Henritze (13) and Jenny Senske (12).
Senske paced the offense with 38 assists. Henritze was second for Princeton with 13 kills, while Sadrai added 10 more. Senske and Henritze also chipped in with five aces, although it was the serving of Joanna Mandecki in the third game that erased an early deficit and ultimately helped open a comfortable lead for the Tigers.
Princeton, the 2004 co-Ivy League champion, caught fire in the final game offensively. After two games of near-.100 hitting, Princeton had a 19:4 kill-to-error ratio in the final game and hit .385 in it.
The Tigers will return at noon Saturday to take on Morgan State before concluding the Classic with a 4 p.m. tilt against Wagner.
