Women's Volleyball Claims Rider Classic With Wins Over Morgan State, Wagner

LAWRENCE, N.J. - Parker Henritze led the women's volleyball team to a championship at the Rider Classic by killing 10 balls in a 3-0 win over Wagner Saturday afternoon. Princeton opened the day with a 3-1 win over Morgan State.
Henritze, the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, had an outstanding effort against Wagner with 10 kills and 17 digs, both team highs. She combined with junior libero Jenny McReynolds for 33 digs, and their defensive efforts helped limit Wagner's offensive totals. The Seahawks managed only one close game in the match, as the fell 30-15, 30-27, 30-11.
Lauren Grumet added eight kills and nine digs, while Jenny Senske recorded 23 assists in the win. Head coach Glenn Nelson was able to get his full roster into the match, and 10 different players recorded at least one kill.
The win clinched the outright title at the Rider Classic. Following Friday's 3-0 win against Rider, the Tigers defeated Morgan State 3-1 Saturday morning. It was another strong effort from Henritze, who recorded 19 kills and 11 digs in the win. Senior middle Brittany Wood added 10 kills while hitting .625, and McReynolds earned a match-high 21 digs.
Princeton will compete at the Marist Tournament next weekend before opening its Ivy League season at home on Sept. 30 against Penn.
